in 1966. In 1970 received
Bachelor of Arts Degree from Oral
Roberts University in Tulsa, OK. Graduated in 1980 from the University
of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking, serving on their Board
of Directors for three years.
Additional education includes attendance in the Masters of
Business Administration program at Southern Illinois University
in Edwardsville,
IL.
Between 1976 and
1983, Ross was Senior Vice President at the Bank of St. Louis and
Corporate Vice President of General Bancshares Corporation. Duties included running the
correspondent bank division and assisting in mergers and
acquisitions for the parent company. In 1984, Ross formulated
Capital Bancorporation, Inc., which acquired the Bank of
Bloomsdale, in Bloomsdale,
Missouri, that same
year. In 1985, Capital
Bank and Trust Company of Clayton, in Clayton, Missouri,
opened for business, with Ross serving as Chairman, President and
Chief Executive Officer.
In 1989, Capital Bank and Trust Company of Clayton was
acquired by County Bancorporation, Inc. of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. County Bancorporation
took the Capital Bancorporation name and Capital Bank and Trust
Company of Clayton operated as a subsidiary of Capital
Bancorporation. In 1994,
Capital Bank and Trust acquired Bank of South County, in St. Louis, Missouri,
forming a two-branch banking operation in St. Louis. In January of 1996, Capital
Bancorporation was acquired by Union Planters Corporation, with
headquarters in Memphis,
TN. In 1997, Union Planters Bank of
Missouri acquired First
Financial Banks in St. Louis,
creating a six-branch banking operation in St. Louis. The acquisition of Magna Bank,
which took place July 1, 1998, expanded the Union Planters St.
Louis operation to 70+ locations and over 70 ATM’s. Further expansion of the St. Louis
market was achieved by the acquisition of the Jefferson Heritage
Bank locations, in February, 2001. In July of 2004, Union Planters
Bank merged with Regions Financial Corporation, creating the
twelfth largest banking entity in the United States with
1,300 offices and a 1,600 ATM network across 16 states. Regions and AmSouth merged in the
fourth quarter of 2006, making Regions the 10th largest banking
group in the United
States. Ross served as the Area
Executive for the Greater St. Louis Banking Group until February
2007. He was promoted to
Midwest Regional President in March of 2007, managing the states
of Missouri, Illinois,
Iowa, Indiana,
Kentucky, Arkansas
and metropolitan Texas.
Ross is very active
in numerous civic and charitable organizations. Ross is the 2006 recipient of
the Missourian Award, recognizing outstanding achievement among
top business leaders, educators, statesmen, writers and artists
in our country. Ross is
also the 2006 recipient of the Boy Scouts of America Silver
Beaver Award, the highest award bestowed on adult volunteers and
the 2003 LaSallian Award, for distinguished service to the
Brothers’ Apostolate of Catholic Education.
Ross is Vice-Chairman
and Secretary for the Saint Louis Zoo Foundation Board of
Trustees, Executive Member of the Regional Business Council,
Executive Board Member of Boy Scouts of America, a member of the Southern
Illinois University-Edwardsville Chancellor’s Council, Transport
Museum Association Board of Directors, the St. Louis Regional
Crime Commission Board of Directors, Treasurer of the Racquet
Club Board of Directors, Saint Anthony’s Medical Center Board of
Directors, Regional Commerce and Growth Association Board of
Directors, Saint Louis University Board of Trustees, and Treasurer
of Missouri History Museum Sub-District Commission. Ross is a member of the National
Football League Alumni, Inc. and St. Louis Sports Commission.
Ross is the former
President of Old Warson Country Club Board of Directors, Chairman
of the Board of Christian Brothers College High School, former
Board Member of the State of Missouri
Development Finance Board, The Archdiocesan Board of
Catholic Education, Today & Tomorrow Foundation, Friends of
the New Cathedral, Incarnate
Word Academy, Saint Louis
Symphony, and Missouri Bankers Association.
Ross is married
with three daughters and enjoys golf, reading and traveling as
his hobbies.
